Gridiron Football Top 300: Marlon Gunn Jr

Marlon Gunn Jr. is a Running back in the class of 2022. He plays for Scotlandville High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and in at 6ft and 212lbs. Marlon is like a bull in the running game -big, strong, and hard to take down. The last thing he is scared of is contact. He will frequently lower his head to run over the defender if need be, and if not, he has a monstrous stiff arm that will do the trick. He is a very shifty runner too which gives him an unfair advantage over the opposing team. Gunn has the good patience to wait for running lanes to open up. Once they do, he uses his cutting ability and his great breakaway speed to secure the house call. Besides from running the ball, he offers great catching ability as well. The running back prospect has shown to have some route running abilities coming out of the back field as well as amazing hands to catch the ball with confidence. Marlon Gunn Jr. would make a great addition to any college roster with his toughness and low center of gravity, as well as his leadership on and off the field.

Check out Maroln’s highlights.

Do you have any hobbies outside of football? I cut hair, just for money in my pocket. It is like a side hustle I do just to keep some change in my pocket.

When did you start playing football? I started at 7. I started watching pro football and seeing the money that they would make, and I was like if I can do that, I want to play football. I like the opportunity that came with it.

What NFL player would you compare your game to? Le’Veon Bell, people compare me to him. Not just because of my numbers, but because of how I run the ball.

What is your favorite thing about your position? You get the ball a lot, you do not have to worry about going for the long pass and dropping it, the quarterback just hands it to you, and you get to do what you do. You do not have to worry about anybody interfering with you or anything

What is your favorite aspect of your game? My stiff arm, I like to get people out my way. I am more of a power back

What is your favorite play to run? I like stretches, because the cut back lanes get open and there is nothing but open field ahead.

What are some team and personal goals you have for next season? Winning the state championship and getting everybody their shine, I want everybody to get time in the spotlight. Personally, I want 20 touchdowns and 1,500 rushing yards. I could not get it last year with the shortened season, so I want to try to get it this year.

What are three words that best describe you? Respectful, honest, trustworthy.

What would you bring to a college team? I would bring anything they need like energy. All I can do is add on to the talent that they already have.
